About the book
The story follows industrialists Dagny Taggart and Hank Rearden as they struggle to keep their businesses running while the economy collapses under mounting government control. Meanwhile, the mysterious John Galt persuades the nation’s most productive minds to withdraw their talents from a society that punishes achievement. Through this narrative, Rand lays out her philosophy of Objectivism, built on reason, individualism, and free markets. It remains one of the most influential and polarizing political novels of the 20th century.
